Teddie spent the past 35+ years of her public relations career in community and public relations in a variety of successful ventures.
After ten years as co-founder, advertising director and publisher of The Sun, an award winning Atlantic City regional feature newspaper, she sold it in 1987 and established O’Keefe Marketing Associates.
In 1998, O’Keefe Marketing Associates merged with Smith & Company to form one of the largest full-service communication agencies in southern New Jersey. Smith O’Keefe & Associates has served regional and national clients in hospitality, tourism, entertainment, golf and sports marketing, banking, transportation, health care, large developments and state government authorities. Among the many clients of the agency were the NJ Casino Reinvestment Authority (CRDA), the Miss America Organization, The Sands Casino Hotel, The Greater Atlantic City Golf Association and the Atlantic City Convention & Visitors Authority, partnering with the global PR firm Weber Shandwick.
The agency principals transitioned Smith O’Keefe’s operations to its senior manager in 2007 who, along with the staff, have taken their vision forward as multiple-disciplined agencies in a new age of communications.
Teddie O’Keefe continues to be active as a PR consultant to clients in hospitality, tourism, golf and major developments. She also specializes in crisis PR management, and is certified by the Institute of Crisis Management. Headquartered in the Atlantic City region of New Jersey, Teddie actively participates and has served on various boards and organizations for sports, hospitality and tourism, the arts, government and education.
Teddie has been a speaker at industry meetings and conferences, such as the NJ Governor’s Conference on Tourism, National Golf Course Owners Association and Golf INC.
